KPA Unicon has worked on clean energy project deliveries in Sweden for 20 years now. Sweden is currently investing heavily in clean energy production, which makes the Swedish market very promising for the company. KPA Unicon’s values and expertise have enabled the company to profile itself as a recognized leader in its field.
The growing international company has recruited many new experts in response to increasing customer volumes. Relying on the company’s resources in Finland is no longer sufficient for the effective management of its operations in Sweden.
“Our business in Sweden is expanding. There is a clear need for our expertise in the Swedish market and our track record shows that we are deserving of the customers’ trust. We will build our Swedish team into a unit that is close to the customers and can independently respond to the needs of the local customers,” says Jukka-Pekka Kovanen, Managing Director of KPA Unicon.
KPA Unicon is now recruiting three new experts for its Stockholm office.
Trust is essential for teamwork
Timo Huusko, the man in charge of the Bravo team, has worked with boiler plants for more than thirty years. In addition to being in charge of the Swedish team, he is also responsible for KPA Unicon’s French unit.
KPA Unicon’s teams operate independently. Each team member is an expert who knows how the work needs to be done.
“In the team organization, the team makes as many independent decisions as possible. This means that each team member must be an expert in their field and have a strong capacity for self-management. My job is to help the team find the solutions to the most challenging situations,” Timo Huusko says.

Christer Rosendahl is a Stockholm-based professional with extensive experience in the industry. He was recruited to the Bravo team about six months ago.
“The key to effective teamwork is mutual trust. The two Timos in the team are seasoned professionals with very broad industry experience and strong customer insight. Timo Valkeinen has lived in Sweden for a long time and he speaks Swedish very fluently. Timo Huusko, the coach of the team, has an inspiring personality and he exudes professionalism. With a large organization behind us, you can always find someone that can answer even the most difficult question. We never run out of resources,” Christer Rosendahl says.
An international company with family values
The Bravo team will continue to be divided between two countries. KPA Unicon has extensive experience of managing projects with the help of online tools. Of course, nothing can fully replace face-to-face collaboration, which is why the Bravo team members will do a lot of traveling between the two countries. The new team members will be based in Stockholm to ensure that they are as close to the customers as possible.
“The last of the old oil-powered heating plants are currently being decommissioned in Sweden to be replaced with environmentally friendly solutions. The same trend can also be seen in other European countries, which is likely to have an effect on the Bravo team’s work. Nevertheless, much of our attention will be on Sweden,” Christer Rosendahl explains.
KPA Unicon started as a one-man company. Today, the globally operating company has nearly 300 employees. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is the company’s founder Pekka Kovanen. His son, Jukka-Pekka Kovanen, is KPA Unicon’s Managing Director.
“The values of a family company are reflected in the way we work. The management is not distant. They are interested in the day-to-day work we do in the field as well as the well-being of employees. They have put a lot of effort into ensuring that decision-making is as easy and agile as it can be. The expertise and trust that are characteristic of the team-based organizational structure make the work meaningful. And when I need their take on things, our senior management quickly shares their perspective on almost any issue,” Timo Huusko adds.
Environmental values and promoting clean energy have guided KPA Unicon since the company was first established. Work becomes more significant when you know that your expertise supports the production of cleaner energy and the well-being of the environment. Motivation is also increased by well-designed internal career paths in the organization and the opportunity to challenge yourself by taking on new duties in different parts of the world.
